The first rule of pinhole photography is to keep very still when exposing the film – which was the first rule I chose to break in order to paint with light. I wanted to let fate decide what abstract or visceral image was to be made.

These images were taken with a number of home-made pinhole cameras made from foamboard, gaffer tape and a piece of a tin can.

Please note the occasional light leakage at the top of some images, which I found added further interest to the images, like brushstrokes or palette knife marks on a painting.
