Disembodiment

2014
This project dates back to 2015 when, unknowingly at the time, I was entering a period of depression. I was coming to the end of something important in my life and consequently did not know what the future would look like.
These images were an attempt to capture those intangible feelings that took over my mental space and sense of wellbeing - feelings that were extremely difficult to articulate at the time which often made me feel disembodied.
Looking at them today, they remind me of how lost I felt in what was once a familiar world, how incapable I became in expressing myself, and having not a single answer to anything that once made complete sense.
To those who are experiencing such feelings… hang in there.
It will pass. You will grow because of it. You will experience good days again.
For the time being, express your experience and feelings into a journal or in some artistic output. Try not to keep your feelings bound tight in the dark. Acknowledge them so that you can better understand why you feel the way you do and, see what choices you have to make the change you need to make.
But this poem will offer some encouragement:
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
